Before I hopped into my car to pick up donations for the NWS collection of cleaning supplies and personal care items for our College Court neighbors , I ran through the house looking for odds and ends of items I could collect. This is what i found:

How did I choose the items and quantity? Let me explain:

  • My husband uses another name brand soap that wasn’t in stock a week ago. We’ve restocked his brand and can now donate Irish Spring.

  • I am not consistent with storing items in the same place. I found two half opened packs of Dove. Why not give the remaining to someone in need?

  • I had actually purchased paper towels before this crazy covid mess. Once again, giving away the two “left” before I purchased more won’t hurt the inventory.

  • We have a couple of bathrooms. Each has a pretty full container of toilet cleaner. This one item may help a resident feel like her/his house is even cleaner and more sanitized.

  • My husband and I generally use our “own” tube of toothpaste. I give away our back up tube and know we can share if I’m not able to replenish it immediately.

My point is, look around your house. Please donate two items. We could help folks with limited funds, access to grocery stores, transportation, family or friends to help them. The list goes on. The impact of two items per household will be substantial.
