As part of the Brew City Match supported by LISC Milwaukee and J.P. Morgan Chase NWSP is highlighting area properties with great promise and opportunity for entrepreneurs and businesses who are looking for a great retail space in a great neighborhood.

These properties not only are working on a track to make improvements but also are working closely with NWSP and BID #10 to bring investment dollars to the building with support from programs like the Choice Neighborhood Action Activities program.

In this virtual tour and spotlight I had the opportunity to interview Tom Schuler owner of 4227 W. Vliet street, a 3,150 square foot retail building with a very large basement, parking for about 8 cars or a side lawn for a nice patio arrangement for a bakery, coffee shop or restaurant.

Tom shares in this audio clip the history of the building and its proximity to the Milwaukee County Zoo’s former site at Washington Park. In addition, hear about the interesting finds he’s encounter as he maintained and invested funds in getting the place in shape. Examples include a modified coffee bean roaster that was used for roasting peanuts.

In this next clip you will hear Tom discuss the condition of the building and what the terrazzo floors, large basement and cream city brick could mean for an up and coming entrepreneur.

This final clip highlights the site attributes and what the Martin Drive neighborhood provides for an entrepreneur.
