DESCRIPTION:(For adults) This adults-only introductory series will take place over 3 dates: \n6/14/25 \n6/21/25 \n6/28/25 \nParticipants will focus on basic bike maintenance\, navigate inter-urban bike trails throughout the City of Milwaukee\, and learn to enjoy the ride along the way. Each day starts at the Menomonee Valley Urban Ecology Center and our biking destinations will start around 8 miles\, building to around 20 miles! \nParticipants must know how to ride a bike. Bikes\, helmets\, and bike locks are provided during this program. This beginner-friendly experience will cover basic paddling techniques\, safety essentials\, and boat handling to help you feel confident on the water. Canoes and life jackets will be provided. Please wear closed-toe shoes that can get wet and bring a full bottle of water. \nParticipants will work together to team carry canoes 300 feet from racks to the launch site. DESCRIPTION:(For adults & teens) Celebrate the Full Moon with your friends at the UEC! This beginner level paddle will be hosted as the full moon rises in Milwaukee. Those with previous paddling experience are encouraged to join us as we canoe through downtown and try to spot the full moon rising. \nCanoeing requires flexibility to get in and out of the vessel\, upper body and core strength\, and a fair amount of balance. Our staff are happy to assist in launching and disembarking your canoe. Lifeguard certified staff will be your guides on this unique early morning paddle. DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join us next week for the first film in our annual Environmental and Social Justice Film series\, in partnership with Milwaukee Riverkeeper. We will be showing one film per month March-June\, and will offer panels\, talkbacks\, question and answer time\, or another activity following the film. \nOur film for March is the Frontline documentary The Affordable Housing Crisis: More Demand\, Less Supply. The film discusses the challenges that many renters and homeowners face in finding and keeping affordable housing. After the film\, we will be joined by staff from Rooted and Rising and Near West Side Partners\, two organizations working to improve the affordable housing situation in the Washington Park area.
