Hear about his heroic efforts to save the captain of the sinking ship and learn about another shipwreck that has connections to Captain Pabst. \nIn this talk\, Cullen will also give guests a sneak peak of an upcoming exhibit at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum that will include many artifacts that were salvaged from the shipwreck Niagara in the 1970s and ’80s.   \nKevin Cullen is the Deputy Director and Chief Curator at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc\, WI.

SUMMARY:Pabst Mansion Lecture: Conrad Seipp and His Milwaukee Neighbors
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that at one point\, in the early 1870s\, Chicago brewer Conrad Seipp led the United States in beer production? This was short lived however as the death of his business partner and competition from those industrious brewers “up north” changed the American brewing landscape forever\, making Milwaukee the Beer Capital of the World. \nDesimone will give an overview of the Seipp Brewing Company as well as Black Point Estate and Gardens\, the Seipp summer residence that is now a historic house museum operated by the Wisconsin Historical Society. \nDave Desimone is the director of Black Point Estate and Gardens. Dave holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Youngstown State University and a master’s degree in public history from Kent State University. Desimone has held prior positions with the Ohio Historical Society\, Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens and the Cleveland Botanical Garden before moving to Wisconsin in 2013.
